Strange Moon Wierd Week

A few days ago, the sky and moon looked like something out of science fiction. Clouds like we’ve never seen before. Eerie.

Picture of “Murdered” Mango

Said in previous post would post pic of the rotundly plump little Victim:

The picture doesn’t do him justice. He was luminous, downy, velvety and matte; in this picture, he looks rather ordinary. Speckled. Imperfect.

Can you fall in love with a fruit? Not that I would… but he was pretty. Pretty Delicious.

Mango Murder

Last week read an article about the price of a luscious mango in Japan. One medium sized, albeit lovely mango, costs about $25.00 USD.

Today, had just such a gorgeous beauty in my hot little hands. This tender golden melon, touched with tinges of peach and rose blush, pulsated a warm invitation to me, singing a fragrant, siren, succulent song, like a ripe and ready maid trembling and humming awaiting her belated knight.

My little beauty cost $1.29 at the local Trader Joe’s.

So, business wise, to eat like a Japanese in Japan, I would have had to earn 23 times the income to purchase this luscious fruit.

With that in mind, I hesitated for a moment. I held the little creature in my hand. Turned it over, feeling it’s cool, velvety perfect skin, smooth as the bottom of a newborn babe.

Didn’t even want to eat the little fella. Too purty, too valuable, too… alive. And too… $25.00 worth of luxurious indulgence.

As I finally sunk a knife into it’s golden orange flesh, I felt like a marauding fruit murderer.

Just because this little golden globe was $25 in Japan, I assigned greater value to this sweet mango child, and felt as if I had killed one of my own. Needless to say, this was one of the most delicious mangoes ever.

LESSON: The more expensive, the more valuable and precious. SO, DOUBLE YOUR PRICES!

(PS: Luckily I had the foresight to take pictures of this hapless fruit before it’s final demise. Will post maňana.)
