There’s one egg that hasn’t hatched yet, and Molly has spent all day feeding her newborns. One newborn is off to himself in the right corner. Hope he’s okay! : ) Update: Mumsy just tucked him under
her breast. He’s warm and quiet now. Joy! 😀

EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY Through the UNIVERSE

A visually stunning trip through the known universe by the American Museum of Natural History. You never knew how small the Earth is, how beautiful, how singular and alone.

Another visual stunning trip through the Universe is the introductory scene from the movie, “Contact” with Jody Foster and Matthew McConaughey. A Must Buy movie, by the way…

From Youtube:

“The Known Universe takes viewers from the Himalayas through our atmosphere and the inky black of space to the afterglow of the Big Bang. Every star, planet, and quasar seen in the film is possible because of the world’s most complete four-dimensional map of the universe, the Digital Universe Atlas that is maintained and updated by astrophysicists at the American Museum of Natural History. The new film, created by the Museum, is part of an exhibition, Visions of the Cosmos: From the Milky Ocean to an Evolving Universe, at the Rubin Museum of Art in Manhattan through May 2010.”

Tanja Askani WOLVES

The most amazing photographs… Tanja Askani takes the most wonderful photos of animals… She loves them with her whole heart, and it shows. She is able to capture their inner and outer beauty with such artfulness. Animals love her back, dearly. It is as if they have an understanding.

Wolves are magnificent, beautiful creatures
capable of great, enduring love.

Amazing and Wonderful Wolves…Wolves can love with great passion and intensity, broken hearted and inconsolable when they lose one another. They are devoted parents, uncles, aunts and grandparents to the cubs.

They can be extremely sweet to one another, playful and teasing, gentle and yet firm in their discipline. Some have observed that they excel as parents, beyond and above their human counterparts.

They hunt only when hungry, kill quickly, and will catch and eat mice if need be.

We do not know the wolf anymore. We came to fear them through fictional literature of the past.

Roberto Bolle Dances Like a Dream

In terms of human beauty, Roberto Bolle takes the cake. : ) As tall and muscular as he is, he makes the dance look effortless, as if he floats on air. This is a case where the beauty of the man surpasses the beauty of the lady, she the wren, he the bird of paradise. 😀

Pigeon and Monkey

Baby Macaque Monkey and White Pigeon Find Each Other in Refuge in China

This is an absolutely extraordinary picture… A little infant macaque is “taken under the wing” by a white pigeon on China’s Neilingding Island in Guangdong Province.

Evidently, this little 12 week old baby monkey was separated from its mother and faced certain death until rescued by a refuge worker.

The story is that the baby was inconsolable until he was befriended and nurtured by the white pigeon, another resident of the shelter. It seems the pigeon understood the baby needed him or her.

They have become inseparable friends. The image was shot by Jianbin Huo of China, a photojournalist. Hopefully, the two will be allowed to spend as much time as possible together.

Macaque monkeys are very intelligent, sensitive and loving. They hold lifetime memories of family and tribe. This little baby may hold love and memories forever for his little friend.

More About Special Monkeys

This is a very beautiful book that chronicles the story of a special troop of Japanese Snow Monkeys as they live and play in a winter wonderland amidst hot springs in the mountains.

This book will touch you, make you laugh and steal your heart away as your see the imagery in full, large and intimate display and read about the monkeys as they dance in the snow, play with snowballs, bask in the sun, splash in the water and snuggle close together to keep warm and meticulously groom each other.

What is so especially captivating is their human-like qualities. They seem to have similar family dynamics with human emotions and expressions. This book captures such rare moments that will be unforgettable.

The adorable monkeys dance in the snow & bask in the sun. They climb & swing from trees. They chew leaves & joyfully play with snowballs, while the babies cuddle in their mother’s arms and nurse. They splash in the water and meticulously groom each other.

The generous array of pictures is absolutely stunning. Mitsuaki Iwago and Hideko Iwago, the authors, have captured the story, elements and photographs in an astounding display of color, pathos and beauty. As you progress through the book, it’s almost as if you’re there, living amongst a group of friends.

Included are details, notes, information in depth about the lifestyle, distribution, habits and living arrangements of these amazing creatures.

Astounding Eagle Pics

These Bald Eagles are truly magnificent… breathtaking! It has been commonly reported that these pictures originated from Vancouver, British Columbia. Actually, these incredible pictures were taken on the Homer Spit in Homer, Alaska, where the eagles were regularly fed by Jean Keene, known as the Eagle Lady.

Some Eagles cluster around pieces of fish…

Waiting their turns. Notice how strong and silent they look…

About Jean Keene and These Magnificent Eagles
During the Winter months and early Spring, approximately 200 to 400 eagles would show up in Homer along the coast, along with a number of crows and gulls. Jean Keene would feed them almost 500 pounds of fish or other sources of meat that she collected from a nearby fishery and other sources. She would also purchase surplus or freezer burned fish using her own Social Security and retirement benefits.

Visitors would come regularly to view Keene feeding the birds, but they were required to remain in their vehicles for the safety of the eagles and themselves.

Jean died several years ago. Upon her death, a new ordinance was enacted prohibiting the feeding of the eagles, so that they would be independent on their own without supplemental feedings.

Update Information: Thanks to Karen at the Hancock Wildlife Foundation and Wikipedia for contributing to the updated information. It has been wrongly reported on the Web that these Eagle images were taken in Vancouver, British Columbia, Comer, and more recently, Minnesota.
